عبدة شاهدة للسيد المسيح عاشت في القرن الرابع الميلادي وكانت عبدة لأحد أكابر الرومان يدعى ترتوللوس Tertullus وكانت مسيحية منذ طفولتها ولكنها كانت المسيحية الوحيدة في بيت سيدها كانت تكثر من الأصوام للحاكم وقفت القديسة لتحاكم وحين سمع الجمع اعترافها باسم السيد المسيح طالبوا بحرقها حيّّة، فرفعت قلبها بالصلاة أن يعطيها الله ثباتًا ثم قالت للقاضي: "الرب الذي اعبده هو معي، لذلك لا أخشى تعذيبك الذي لا يستطيع إلا أن يأخذ حياتي، التي اطرحها من أجل السيد المسيح" أمر الوالي بتعذيبها وكانت تعذب بوحشية حتى أن الواقفين صرخوا من هول المنظر وطلبوا إطلاق سراحها تنيّحت بعد ذلك بميتة طبيعية، ولكن التقليد
