كتاباته هو التلميذ المقرب للأنبا شنودة رئيس المتوحدين وهو الذي كتب سيرته، وليس لدينا أية إشارة عن حياته، فلا نعرف أين ولد وكيف نشأ ومتى دخل الدير ولكننا نعرف الكثير عن أفكاره وخواطره ونزعاته الروحية
