سيامته كاهنًا ولد هذا الأب من عائلة الراهب بقرية كوم غريب مركز طما محافظة سوهاج حوالي سنة 1877م من أسرة تقية
سلك بالعفاف والتقوى في شبابه وعمل في شركة ترام القاهرة، غير أنه ترك العمل بعد فترة قليلة لعدم ارتياحه روحيًا، وعاد إلى قريته ومسقط رأسه حيث وجد دعوة الكهنوت في انتظاره فقبلها بفرح، ورُسِم كاهنًا لكنيسة القديس الأنبا شنودة بقرية كوم غريب وذلك في صيف عام 1905م، ودعي بنفس اسمه قبل الكهنوت
احتمل آلام الخدمة وأتعابها بفرحٍ وسلك كسيده ومعلمه محتملاً الصليب، كما احتمل تجارب كثيرة، منها انتقال ابنه الوحيد ومرض زوجته التي فقدت البصر
مواهب شفاء الأمراض وإخراج الأرواح الشريرة أعطاه الرب مواهب كثيرة كشفاء الأمراض وإخراج الأرواح الشريرة، وأظهر الرب على يديه عجائب ومعجزات
منها أنه كان يحب قراءة الإنجيل وخاصة في المساء، ولم يكن في القرية نور ولكنه كان يضع بجواره شمعة كبيرة
وذات ليلة كانت إحدى بنات العائلة جالسة وبمجرد أن أمسك أبونا يسى بالإنجيل ليقرأ فيه إذ بالشمعة تنير من ذاتها، فاندهشت وقالت له: "مين اللي نوَّر الشمعة؟" فقال لها: "ملاك الرب يخدم أولاد الله"
عرف موعد نياحته فنزل إلى الكنيسة وطاف بدورة بخور مودعًا المذبح، وتنيّح بسلام في 10 يونيو سنة 1962م
وبعد نياحته ظهر من قبره ظواهر روحية وكثيرون نالوا الشفاء ببركة التشفع به
